Since this is my first entry I thought I’d discuss why I started Legacy Security Consulting and how I plan to leverage my background, training, and experience to assist you with the challenges your business may be facing.  You’ll see that since I have a unique blend of experience and expertise, I can offer unique solutions.

I was fortunate to have retired from the US Secret Service as a Senior Special Agent.  While my Secret Service career placed many demands on my family and I, my unusually varied career placed me in a position to do many exciting things at a very high level. After the Secret Service I was appointed as Director of Security for Western Union.  I enjoyed the challenge of transitioning my skills from the Secret Service to a Corporate Security position.  I was able to leverage my international Presidential protection experience to provide Executive protection.  I leveraged my experience with large scale and complex International fraud and network intrusion investigative experience to develop and implement programs to detect, mitigate, and prevent, internal and external fraud and Electronic Crimes. Using these substantial experiences in combination with my CISSP certification I have partnered with business development teams to assess proposed and existing financial services products to manage risk and mitigate exposure.  I have implemented Anti-Phishing strategies by starting at the policy adoption phase and seeing the strategy through to the procedural implementation phase.  I’ve leveraged my Presidential protection and Intelligence expertise to assess troubled employee dangerousness and develop Workplace Violence training programs. Using my White House protection and Security planning skills I’ve been able to conduct security surveys as well as provide personnel and facilities security. I’ve used all my experiences to add value to the business acquisition Due Diligence process. Using my vast network of International and US Law Enforcement contacts I’ve developed private/public partnerships to affect prosecution and recovery in fraud cases.

Presidential Protection assignments and successfully investigating multimillion dollar fraud cases require a tremendous amount of planning, attention to detail, experience, diligence, perseverance, intuition, and a commitment to seeing the assignment through to a successful conclusion.  I am prepared to apply my  unique and varied experiences, along with my unusually diverse expertise to the challenges your company might be facing.

Very few people can offer this exceptional blend of investigative, technical, IT Security, Corporate Security and protection experience and expertise.  I combine my experience and expertise to view challenges holistically.  Some companies call this approach Converged Security.  I modify the traditional Converged approach by including IT Security, Risk Assessment, Risk Management, and Investigations to better leverage my experience and expertise against your challenges.  There are definite advantages to this approach including significant cost savings for your organization.

In future communications I plan to take a closer look at what Converged Security is, how it works, why it’s needed, and how it can benefit your enterprise, big or small.  I’ll also discuss how my approach Converged Security approach is very different from that provided by other companies.
